Using specific companies as a blueprint, Human Ventures set out to create a studio structure that replicates the process of creating a company of value. This process takes the right mix of leveraging our operational playbook, along with skillfully addressing the unique opportunities of each company. The Human Ventures team, led by CEO Heather Hartnett, is creating an ecosystem in New York wherein industries can learn from each other and enable technology to provide us with better, more fulfilling lives.
Joe Marchese is the Executive Chairman and lead investor in Human Ventures. Joe serves as president of Advanced Advertising Products at Fox Networks Group, where he leads operations in non-linear advertising products and services for 21st Century Fox’s global portfolio of channels.
Joe was appointed to his current position after the company he founded, true[X], was acquired by 21st Century Fox in 2015. true[X], the leader in engagement advertising technologies, is now a part of the Advanced Advertising Products division. Joe is also the co-founder and Chairman of the Human company, Reserve.
Prior to true[X], Joe spent several years as a television executive at the cable network Fuse TV, where, as SVP of Digital and Advertising.
Joe currently serves on the board of trustees of the Paley Center for Media and the Board of Directors of the Tribeca Film Institute. Mr. Marchese holds a B.A. in Economics and Finance from Bentley University. He lives in New York with his wife Christie and their dog
Heather Hartnett is the CEO and founding member of Human Ventures. Heather leads a team at Human the parent company and advises each of Human Ventures’ portfolio companies. She was recently featured in Business Insider as "the first female-led startup studio in New York City" bringing a fresh new perspective to the tech scene. Heather was also named one of the 50 Most Influential Women in America by Marie Claire.
Prior to Human Ventures, Heather founded a FinTech company incubated within City Light Capital — a venture capital fund that invests in companies seeking to generate measurable social and environmental impact in addition to financial returns.
Heather serves on the Board of Directors of the David Lynch Foundation and is a long time practitioner and teacher of Transcendental Meditation.
Michael Letta is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Human Ventures. Michael comes to Human Ventures from charity: water where he served as CFO. He was hired by the founder to lead various finance, operations and administrative functions through a rapid expansion of the organization from $9M to $45M in annual revenue; where headcount grew from 20 to 75 employees, and the unique supporter base from 56K to more than 700K. During this same period, collective fundraising efforts brought in more than $175M of both working capital and international investment funding. The latter will help bring more than 6M people in 24 developing countries clean, safe drinking water.
Prior to charity: water, Michael led teams at Thomson Media and Deloitte. He's a CPA and holds a BS/BA from The Ohio State University.
